Greg "Craola" Simkins & Lola. Escape With Me, 2011. Acrylic on canvas. 42 x 32 in. (framed)
By now you’ve likely seen previews of individual pieces from Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins and Lola for their joint ‘Escape With Me’ show in Montreal @ Yves Laroche. Today we bring you something new, the first look at their large (42” x 32”) collaborative piece, ‘Escape With Me, 2011”. As you can see, the collaboration between the two is quite seamless, with each artist’s elements blending in and playing off of the other’s — Lola’s sheep lies embedded in what appears to be a large half-egg while one of her female characters relaxes on one of Craola’s signature striped tentacles.

Craola
Here’s a quick preview of Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins and Lola’s two-person show, Escape with Me, which opens in Montreal on June 8th @ Yves Laroche. Each painter offers a retreat into surreal worlds created from their imagination in which creatures morph into one another and things are familiar yet wondrously different.
