House Industries announces the opening of its Type as Object show at New York’s Type Directors Club. The show will open on October 20, 2009 and run until November 20, 2009. House Industries principals Andy Cruz and Rich Roat will give a short introductory lecture at the opening. Type as Object will feature the three dimensional objects that House has derived from its 16 years of creating a tangible experience around its digital type. House Industries has exhibited previously at Shepard Fairey’s Subliminal Projects Gallery and at 222 Gallery in Philadelphia.

Visual artist and designer Cardon Webb graduates from the School of Visual Arts this week. His recent solo exhibition, Cardon Copy at the Type Directors Club closed today. Fortunately for us, Cardon has archived his entire show online, from installation and opening photos, to the complete works on view.

Cardon has been invited to curate an exhibition for next April, based off of his Cardon Copy exhibition. where he will invite big name designers to redesign a classified ad. The posters will be auctioned off for the TDC scholarship fund. Pretty sweet, Cardon.

My good friend, former intern, and art-star-to-be Cardon Webb is celebrating ‘CARDON COPY’ a solo exhibition at the Type Directors Club, opening tonight, MONDAY, APRIL 20TH FROM 5PM – 8PM AT 347 West 36th Street, Suite 603.
Here’s a little excerpt from his artist statement:

CARDON COPY, TAKES THE VERNACULAR OF SELF-

DISTRIBUTED FLIERS AND TEAR-OFFS WE HAVE ALL SEEN

IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. IT INVOLVES HIJACKING

THESE UNCONSIDERED FLIERS AND REDESIGNING THEM,

OVER POWERING THEIR MESSAGE WITH A NEW VISUAL

LANGUAGE. I THEN REPLACE THE ORIGINAL WITH THE

REDESIGN IN ITS AUTHENTIC ENVIRONMENT.

That should be enough to entice you to come to see the show to see the complete exhibition from Mr. Webb, an extremely talented emerging artist.
