Busy March for the artists of LeBasse Projects…

ed wave

This March LeBasse Projects opens a solo show for Greek artist Alexandros Vasmoulakis but that’s not the only thing keeping us busy. The LBP artists are keeping busy worldwide…

Edwin Ushiro (pictured) opens his first NY solo show with Sloan Fine Art on the 24th. Nate Frizzell also has a solo show, his debut in the UK at Bo.Lee Gallery in Bath. From what I hear, both are already selling their shows on preview so better reach out to the galleries now. Eric Fortune just sold out his mini-show at the High Fructose curated exhibit as well…so better get on the list for his next show with us in October.

Join us in LA this Saturday for:

Recap: Nate Frizzell @ LeBasse Projects

Last Roll - 61

Last Saturday, October 17 a great crowd came out to see Nate Frizzell’s solo show at LeBasse Projects. “Lost in The Thicket” features 15 pieces by the Los Angeles based artist, including both paintings and graphite studies. Frizzell’s work explores the idea of searching for one’s own identity, and in turn, each painting becomes a metaphor for choosing different paths in life. This new body of work really showcases Frizzell’s ability to push himself, both in terms of technical skill and subject matter. For more info on Nate be sure to check out his blog. And take a look at pictures from the show after the jump!

Seen: Bipolar @ Exhibit A

Bipolar

Bipolar

After Mike Shinoda’s show at JANM we swung over to Tony Alva’s Exhibit A Gallery to see a group show that included work from Tim Biskup, Sas Christian and our own Nate Frizzell and Melissa Haslam.

The gallery has a raucous crowd out back waiting to hear the band play. Not sure of their name, but it was like a young Motley Crue…circa Shout at the Devil era. We spent some time in the offices/vip area as the band teased their hair and put on makeup.

As for the artwork it was certainly an interesting show as artists were asked to do work unlike their usual style. One would hardly recognize most of the work.

Shows: The Detournements of Wynn Miller @ Exhibit A

There is a show quietly sneaking up on us here in LA featuring some great artists and based on two legends. Tony Alva is the original bad boy of Venice’s Dogtown and a godfather of skateboarding, Wynn Miller was the man who photographed him from Day 1.

The Detournements of Wynn Miller is a tribute to both by some of art’s best including the always present Shepard Fairey, Shawn Barber, Greg Gossel, Nate Frizzell and a host more. Each artist will be painting their version of a Wynn Miller photograph. Should be very interesting to see what they come up with.

Plus Fairey, Miller and Alva will all be signing new Obey prints for the show. Get one while they are hot.
