The Aqua Hotel kicked off its preview last night with a nice party hosted by Campari. The courtyard of the Hotel filled up quickly and I sadly was too busy chatting to take many pictures.

As the Preview came to an  end, we headed off to the Deitch projects party at the Raleigh Hotel.

Luckily for us, we were in time to see the performance – and I do mean performance – from The Gossip. Band front woman, Beth Ditto, gave a stellar performance to hipsters including style machine, Rachel Zoe and iconic Fab Five Freddy.

The legendary Keith Haring created a series of “tablets” as his interpretation of the ten commandments for a show in 1985. Rarely seen, these “commandments” or more likely Haring’s interpretation are on display at Deitch Projects through December.

This is the first time the series has been seen in the US, since it was originally painted and exhibited in France. Check out: Deitch for more info.

The “epic in nature” artist Kehinde Wiley will open his most ambitious series to date tomorrow at Deitch Projects in NY. His figurative paintings will extend to 25 feet in length and possess a grandeur and flair that makes Wiley one of the most interesting artists working.

According to the press release: “Wiley has created an unsettling series of prone bodies – some a product of the ravages of war, some contorted into erotic revelry, while other embody the majesty and severity of entombed Saints.”
