This past Saturday evening, Hi-Fructose magazine presented their third annual group show, Overdose, at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Dailydujour had the pleasure of taking in the opening – here’s our belated show coverage including plenty of photos.  Offering a vivid and broad overview of low brow, pop surrealist, and new contemporary art the show featured some of the most exciting talents working today including Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins (above), KMNDZ, Chris Berens, Kris Kuksi (above),  Josh Keyes,  Yosuke Ueno, Naoto Hattori, Yoskay Yamamoto, Eric Fortune, Bob Dob, and more.

The evening also served as a release party/signing for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition box set which includes 5 art prints.  Several artists were on-hand to sign for collectors including Brandi Milne, Greg Simkins, Joe Ledbetter, and photographer extradordinaire Brian McCarty.

Bob Dob has added some new prints to his online shop. One of the prints is “Hodads” and is from his recent show at Billy Shire Fine Arts. The print is 20″ x 30″ on archival watercolor paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50+10 artists proofs.

Following several  strong shows at La Luz, Bob Dob opened his first solo at the larger Billy Shire Fine Arts gallery last night (2.14).  Blue Skies pay homage to the iconic SoCal beach and Bob’s past surfing adventures. Fans and collectors will recognize the every-present demonic Lueys as well as the rough ‘n tumble bad boys.   Despite the opening being on Valentine’s, a large crowd came out to enjoy the show.  Bob Dob’s star continues to rise.  The show runs through March 7th – go check it out in person if you can.

Our main man Bob Dob opens his solo show this weekend at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City.  We have a little sneak peek here from soon to be contributing Annie, the BSFA Director.

I know its Valentine’s Day, but give Bob some love and visit him this Saturday. The new paintings look large and lovely for sure.

I attended a press preview of the rad “Art of Rebellion” show at the Robert Berman Gallery in Bergamot Station last night. Presented by Harley-Davidson, the show gathers 11 artists to present their take on the theme of rebellion. Each artist painted a motorcycle gas tank, in addition to presenting a solo 2-D piece. The art is for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Art Matters.

The show officially opens Feb. 7, with a reception from 7 PM-10 PM. It has been extended until Feb. 21, so be sure to check it out.

Looks like with the success of Scion’s Art Installations, other auto companies are getting in the “art” sponsorship game. While technically a motorcycle brand, it looks like Harley Davidson is doing a show in LA.

How rebellious. But at least the show looks like a good lineup of artists.

Bob Dob presented his army of custom Luey figures.  These are hand-customized versions of his figures which were released last year  by STRANGEco.  Great stuff – all Baby Tattooville attendees will receive one of these customized Lueys.
