Shows: Andrew Hem @ LeBasse Projects (7/16)

On Saturday July 16th, Andrew Hem opens his second solo exhibition with LeBasse Projects titled ‘Cold Water.’ In this highly anticipated solo project, Hem confronts the viewer with themes of isolation and personal conflict.

The new paintings explore the feeling of isolation we get when removed from those close to us – and the ensuing personal darkness that follows. As the viewer progresses through the paintings we can see how Hem emerges from those dark places and finds the road back to happiness.

In addition to preparing for the show, Hem recently completed a large mural in Culver City as part of the series of murals being planned by LeBasse Projects and Warren Brand. More details and images coming soon.

Preview: Van Saro — ‘Coming of Age’ (7.1)

Here’s a quick look at Van Saro’s new work for his new small solo, ‘Coming of Age’ opening on Friday, July 1st at La Luz de Jesus in Hollywood.  Making the jump from walls and aerosol to oils on canvas is no easy task, yet Van Saro’s new body of paintings portray urban life in a vivid, poignant, and questioning manner.   Van Saro is showing in the large rear gallery with Simon Sotelo, Andy Steele and Hui Tran.
