Seen: Herakut + Case Mural across from Manual Arts High

Herakut and Case finished out their painting in LA with a new mural right across the street from Manual Arts high school, facing the huge Roa piece. In the progress shots below you’ll see Hera quickly roughing out the outlines of the primary characters with a paint roller and all the ensuing work by the trio, completed in about four hours. As is their tradition, Herakut finished off the piece with a hand-sprayed message. Rather than shying away from providing an interpretation, Hera feels strongly that the purpose of their art is to convey a meaning and viewpoint.

The mural was organized by Mark Ayala, whose leadership as an inspiring art teacher has resulted in a school beautification project both on the exterior and interior of the school featuring world-class street artists. Unfortunately the mural program and the arts education at Manual Arts is in jeopardy in the face of budget cuts and misguided school administrators.
