Park Life, a fantastic gallery/boutique in San Francisco’s Richmond district is opening a show for LA based Marissa Textor. Textor is starting to pop up in quite a few recent shows including pieces in SF’s Guerrero Gallery and LA’s Subliminal Projects. DD can see why, as her attention to detail has certainly caught our attention.
Textor makes photorealistic, graphite drawings that look to natural phenomena for inspiration. Textor’s work examines why natural events occur and how they can relate back to our own lives. Water, rocks, smoke, and animals are all common elements that emphasize the role that nature plays in creating a world that is constantly surprising and changing. Her drawings call to attention images that are right in front of us but easy to miss.
