NYC based shadow cabal Trustocorp has made quite an impression with their ongoing subversive and at times just straight-up thought provoking campaigns. Their never-ending wave of metal street signs installed right along side ‘legit’ ones serve as their innovative calling card.
Last night (tax day, no less), Trustocorp brought their game in-doors for their first gallery exhibition at the newly opened Brooklyn Brothers gallery. We couldn’t make it out to the sweet opening, but luckily Saki of IHCS did and shot plenty of great photos. The show featured three large focal pieces – a large map with over-sized push-pins and photos documenting their street posting spree (the outline of which is a defiant finger), a 100% American Beef cutaway featuring a look at the new America, and a mock map featuring Trustocorp’s tourist hotspots. Also, the show offered a nice retrospective of the collective’s urban installations from the street signs to their recent mock product drops.
Finally, there was the Trusto Shootout which put the opening over the top. For $10, show goers could wield an AK-47 style BB gun loaded with 150 BB’s and take aim at poster targets depicting nefarious sorts such as the ‘greedy banker’. Prizes included TrustoCorp grenades (inert, we assume).
Definitely an awesome gallery debut, we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next from Trustocorp.
