The Australian duo of Dabs Myla made an impressive splash with their Golden Age show at New Puppy about a month back. They continue their roll in the States with ‘Earthquake Weather’ showing on the Fresh Faces wall tonight, December 11th @ Thinkspace.
Dailydujour dropped by the gallery on Wednesday while the two were working on a wall mural installation. Their expansive wall mural installations for Golden Age were really impressive and incredibly labor intensive. To tackle the change of producing detailed wall installations, Dabs Myla have a streamlined process – they layout the mural beforehand with a complete color call out. Additionally, they pre-mix all the colors in numbered containers. The result of this level of planning are wall installations that begin to approach the detail they achieve intheir original paintings.
