Seen: Alex Pardee – Frolicking Nightmares

[Alex Pardee opened his Frolicking Nightmares solo this past Friday at Andenken Gallery in Colordo.  Dailydujour contributor Josh Witham reports from Colorado with great shots of the opening and his take on the show.]

With his recent Walrus Rider vinyl figure in the bag, Alex Pardee took a very monotonous drive from California to Colorado in order premier his new body of work at Andenken Gallery in Denver. The show, entitled “Frolicking Nightmares – Portraits of Beasts that Dwell in a Sexier Dimension”  was themed around a group of ’sexy’ monsters who would probably eat your face off, but look really hot doing it. In addition, there were a few black and white drawings as well as some of Alex’s more traditional works; some with hilarious stories to coincide with the piece.

Alex also took two days before the show to paint a gigantic mural to coincide with his ‘Ghost Boners;’ a series of very affordable originals depicting ghosts with… well… boners. The show ran from 7pm to Midnight, with Alex Pardee making sure he spent time with every fan who approached him.  The show was definitely a local success; with what seemed like hundreds of people flocking in throughout the hours to view what came to be an almost sold out show.
