Brazilian artist João Ruas opened his Inner Myth Part 1 solo on the Fresh Faces wall at Thinkspace this past Friday (5.8). Recently chosen as the successor to James Jean as the Fables cover artist, Ruas’s work is marked by a focus on the fantastic interspersed with the apparently mundane – all rendered with beauty and grace. Even in the small number of exhibited pieces, there’s tremendous variety to his fine art ranging from mythic beasts to curious children playing around a skull. Given his excellent pieces, it’s perhaps not surprising that all but one piece sold before the evening’s end. See the official show page for a look at all of Ruas’s pieces.
