Seen: The Boogie Disease @ Shooting Gallery SF

Van Arno’s latest solo show “The Boogie Disease”: Or, How The Moans of Sharecroppers Made Britain’s Musicians Rich and Wasted, was the full title from what the sales sheet stated, opened this past weekend at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. I have to admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of this artists work, but seeing the paintings in person converted me. This is why I always make it a point to see art in person. The paintings were all very dynamic; with the figures, colors and the brush strokes in each of the works. When you get closer to the pieces you can see how big some of the strokes are, whether it’s a highlight, reflected color or just a lock of hair. The lighting in the Shooting Gallery is also top notch, a pleasure to view art in as well as photograph.
